Bremer's Summer Internship at Swiftcoat
Bremer's work, mostly in the realm of chemical engineering that he worked on at the thin film coating company, Swift Coat, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Highlight: NASA Artemis Antifog Research
I had the opportunity to work with NASA and Swift Coat to validate the antifog coating that will go inside spacesuit helmets for future NASA Artemis missions. I got to test a whole bunch of different things to verify that the coating held up, such as:
Do facial oils degrade the coating?
Does the coating hold up to tape removal?
What if the astronaut has a beard, does his hair rub it off? (See my custom variable beard testing machine pictured on this page!
What if an astronaut, God forbid, vomits in the helmet, does the coating stand up? (Had to make lab grade vomit)
What if lunar dust gets into the helmet? (Got to use lunar dust simulant!)
Some of the Testing Materials
Validating Results (Ellipsometry & Spectrophotometry)
Other Chemical Engineering Projects Bremer got to work on at Swift Coat
Department of Energy - Renewable Energy Coatings for Solar Panels
Department of Defense - Such as being awarded a $1.8 Million Dollar Contract, that Bremer contributed to. Learn more about Bremer & his skills in government relations here.
Private Companies - Such as a producer of Space Related Glass
I didn't just do Chemical Engineering at Swift Coat, please check out my Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering Projects to see how I have worked across different engineering disciplines.
